BTCPay announced today in a Medium post, that they’re introducing a brand-new tool. This tool is integrated into their self-hosted payment-processor and will enable users to create a self-hosted funding campaign, similar to Kickstarter or Indiegogo.

BTCPay wrote:

“Unlike traditional crowdfunding platforms, the creator of the campaign is the owner of the platform. Funds go directly to the creator’s wallet without any fees. The app was developed by Andrew Camilleri. If you want to support the app developer visit his crowdfunding page.

The stated intent is to extend the use-case of BTCPay and help content-creators, charities, developers, and entrepreneurs who need funding to take their product, service, content from dream to reality.

The design of the page can easily be changed to fit the needs of the user. The layout and basic features are quite similar to centralized platforms such as Kickstarter.

In the video below walks you through how to create a self-hosted Crowdfunding campaign and accept payments or donations.

If you go to the Medium post the BTCPay team walk you through setting up a demo crowdfunding using their demo servers.

You can join their growing community on Slack or Telegram. They have extensive documentation where you can learn more about BTCPay. BTCPay is an open-source project and if you’re a developer you can check out what they are doing on their GitHub.
